SPLENDID SHIMLA

It was almost one year, we got married but still not went for our honeymoon. So we made a plan to visit Himachal Pradesh in the month of December 2017. So whenever we told anyone about our trip, their first expression was “How can you enjoy there in that chilling winter, you should abort the trip and plan for next year in the summer”. But our tickets were confirmed, hotels were booked and we were determined that whatever the weather would be, we will enjoy. So the wait was over and We started our journey on 1st of Dec 2017. Our bus was from New Delhi to Shimla on 9.35PM. We almost missed our bus, but luckily we were on time in spite of the heavy jam of Delhi. On 2nd December 17 we reached at Shimla bus stand.

Now what happened, first we were in the flight then in the bus, which was air conditioned, so we could not figure it out about the weather. When we just get out of the bus, we realized what mistake we had done. It was 5’O clock in the morning and the weather was so cold that we ran inside the bus stand taking our luggage and wore what we got inside the hand baggage. Then I called our guide to pick us from the bus stand. We were shivering in the cold. After half an hour he called me to come out and get in the car. Our bank’s holiday home was on the ridge road. It took almost one hour to get there because cars are not allowed on Mall road, so he took us there by an alternative but long way. Still we were shivering in that chilling morning. I was barely able to sign on the hotel register. Getting inside the room, without any delay we took out the blankets and got inside that with all the winter wears we had wore.

After a deep sleep for 2 and half hours, and a hot water bath, we acclimatized. Our guide, Vinod Sharma ji was on the main road and we had to reach there by walk. The Mall Road is very beautiful, wide open space, fully sunlit, peoples were basking in the sun, women were knitting wool on road side benches, kids were playing. In one word Mall road is very beautiful place to walk around.

After that We started our trip and visited various places. We visited the historical Viceregal Lodge, which is now used as study center for post doctorate students then we visited other local places. On the second day we witnessed the stunning visuals of green valley then we went to kufri and did some adventurous rides . First time we did horse ride in Kufri and it was really awesome. We visited the Jakhoo Temple, which have the longest statue of Lord Hanuman in the world.

On a whole we enjoyed a lot. Wherever we went in Shimla one thing was common, the clean roads and bathrooms. People are also so aware of cleanliness. In the mall road area so many benches are placed near road to take rest. It felt like we were roaming in a park not in a market. I wish I could visit shimla at least once again in my life.
